Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The statistics of an item are enhanced by upgrading it, also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment boosts a stat linearly.
Players can recycle up to six items at a time in order to gain an indicator of the level of the upgraded components. The cost of recycling items scales according to their rarity and level.
Upgrade components
An upgrade for an item in Guild Wars 2 is a procedure that can improve the stats of your armor and weapons. This can be accomplished by a variety of methods, including by using upgrade components or increasing an item's rarity or mark level. Many items can also be reforged in order to increase their stats.
Upgradeable items are available in the game, both around the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be created by players. Upgrade components are the most common way to upgrade equipment. These are items that can be inserted into equipment. Most equipment has slots that can be upgraded and some require a certain level of upgrade. Certain upgrade components offer specific bonuses, while others give an overall bonus.
There are several types of upgrade components available in the game, such as universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. The universal upgrades, such as gemstones and enchantments can be placed on any type of equipment and offer lower bonuses than upgrades that are specific to equipment. Glyphs can be placed in gathering tools and provide numerous bonuses, from increasing the speed of an item's gathering to supplying additional crafting materials.
Select the item in your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected stats are after the upgrade, along with any materials or components required. If you don't have enough of either the upgrade button will say Blocked.
The upper-right corner shows the amount of upgrade components needed for a particular item. The cost of upgrading increases with the level and rarity of the item increases. However you can lower the cost by purchasing upgrades from a seller or trading them with other players.
The majority of weapons can be upgraded by adding a prefix, like a rune or an insignia, and others can be improved by adding an suffix. These upgrades can be used to add an adjective to the name of the item, such as "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to communicate visual information. They animate in order to grab the viewer's eye and entice curiosity. The animation of glyphs mimics body language, making them even more effective in communicating the message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs can also enhance the retention of messages by creating an emotional connection in the brain.
Each glyph increases the value of a stat by a certain range. This is displayed on the item, when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This is not the actual amount at which glyphs can improve the stat, but rather the maximum value by which it can increase a stat. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the quality and tier of the product you are in awe of it.
Most upgrade components slotted into items can't be replaced or salvaged without removing the gear in question, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. If, however, you have a non-useful rune or glyph that hasn't yet been added to your gear, you can move it to a different piece of equipment by utilizing the Upgrade Glyphs context menu in the Glyphs panel. This will create an entirely new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
If you want to remove a glyph from a piece of you must salvage it using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. This will destroy the item that it was installed in but you will be able to salvage the upgraded item using the glyph and its shards therefore, it shouldn't be considered as a loss.
The addition of a glyph to an item could cause it to become unstable, and the shards that are left of that glyph will disappear from your inventory when you remove the item. You can also put an inscription to your equipment to give it a bonus. Deferred Damage, for example can be used to store damage and then be dealt out slowly to the wearer instead of all at one time. This can be helpful for players who take a lot of damage from their enemies, but do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens can be used to alter the affixes on equipment and weapons. They can be obtained from many sources, including mysterious boxes or rare drops from skulled monsters or by killing bosses. Every reroll grants the player an affix randomly chosen and typically better than what they had before. Reroll tokens can also be used to improve weapon stats to cause more damage or bonuses.

Items that have been rerolled will not appear in the item upgrade menu, however, they still qualify to receive upgrades. If you click the "upgrade button" you can recycle the items that have been rerolled. This will alter the design of the item's window, and allow up to six items be chosen for recycling. The gauge of level is increased by recycling an item. The amount is determined by the rarity of the item as well as its level. Therefore, items that are higher level are more valuable to recycle than lower-leveled ones.
Players can also make use of Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to roll rerolling weapons to upgrade units. Rerolls will determine the % chance of a weapon trait. If it is higher, the weapon will be upgraded. If it is lower, the weapon remains unchanged. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.
A reroll is a good option for upgrading an item, but users must be aware that it can lower the overall ilvl of the weapon due to the number of rerolls needed in order to increase the weapon to its ultimate ilvl. This effect is most evident on rings and Diadems, because they are the only options for raising ilvl.
Players have complained that the reroll system is expensive. It would be fairer to allow people to pay for it using money or food items that would allow players to make changes to their builds without having to spend excessive amounts of time. The developers aren't planning to introduce paid rerolls at this point in the game's development. They are planning to add an ingredient that allows players to alter their race in the near future.
Leveling
There are a variety of ways to upgrade an item. The most effective method to level up an upgrade to an item is by increasing the amount of upgrade. This increases the value of upgrading any stat. The second is to boost the effect of an upgrade, which increases the damage or heal of a particular stat. In addition, there is the ability to upgrade the base item to a more powerful upgrade type. The upgraded item will maintain its iLevel but have the upgraded effects of the upgraded item.
It is crucial to keep in mind that upgrades are not guaranteed. In most cases a better roll is determined by glyphs. However there are instances when a greater or special roll could occur. Additionally the iLevel of the upgrade will be determined by the type of item and when you upgrade a rare or unusual item to a unique type you has a chance to achieve an increased iLevel.
Upgrading items can be costly, particularly if you're upgrading a piece of gear from the normal to the legendary track. The cost of upgrading a piece of equipment will depend on its base iLevel and the number of upgrade levels. Additionally, certain upgrade tracks require crests to reach the next upgrade level.
If you're fortunate the upgraded item could attain the highest level on its upgrade track and unlock an additional benefit. This will give you a substantial boost in the upgrade value of the item. The bonus effect changes with each upgrade level. In general, the upgrade effect is increased by a number of +3.
The iLevel can also change according to the upgrade path and base level. For example the weapon that has been upgraded from a rare or exclusive item to an exceptional item will be able to get the Enhanced Defense of the base item type.
